  • Overview

    The Substitue Preschool Teacher will support a Head Start Classroom for the 2017/2018 school year.

     

    Under the administrative direction of the Education/Early Childhood Services Manager and under the direct supervision of the Site Coordinator, the Substitute Classroom Teacher has major responsibility for all classroom operations including, planning, carry out activities, maintaining the classroom environment, and supervising children.

     

     

     Work Location:  Head Start/Abbott Services Center, Trenton, New Jersey

     

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for maintaining classroom environment, supervising Children and providing guidance and direction to meet the individual needs of children
    • Manage classroom operations according to program schedule, policies and procedures.
    • Implementation of HS curriculum, and Head Start Performance Standards.
    • Work in a team setting with all staff to determine individual needs of children.
    • Consult with parents and appropriate service providers, consultants, and staff regarding child developmental concerns.
    • Greet parents and children pleasantly and appropriately, ensuring a smooth transition into the classroom. Maintain ongoing professional and appropriate communication with parents.

    Qualifications

    Educational Requirements:

    Must hold a New Jersey Substitute Teaching Certificate. New Jersey P-3 Certification and/or Certificate of Eligibility issued by the State of New Jersey Department of Education preferred

     

    Experience Requirements:

    Experience teaching pre-school children, preferably in Head Start/Early Head Start classrooms; minimum of three years experience working with preschool aged children and families.
