  • Overview

    The Bilingual Social Service Specialist will recruit and engage families in center-based activities that promote the 10 core services as identified by the Department of Children and Families. 


    Length of Assignment: August 27, 2018 through December 17, 2018


    • Assist in the planning of activities that serve to recruit families into the center, including involvement in the Parent Advisory Committee.
    • Conduct outreach activities and participate in community education events such as health, community and school fairs and special events.
    • Make referrals to appropriate agencies for resources and supportive services.  Complete regular follow up on at 30, 60 & 90 days to determine in linkage has been made.
    • Assist with the scheduling, planning, and facilitation of parenting education programs following best practice curriculums, including but not limited to prenatal health education and support groups. 
    • Work collaboratively with families to develop Family Success Plans and conduct regular linkage follow-ups.
    • Provide regular follow up to families receiving individual services as needed.
    • Develop and facilitate educational and supportive groups for family success center participants and their children.
    • Provide information to families on health, economic self-sufficiency, child development, parenting, and life skills.
    • Prepare monthly reports, maintain service binders, completes summaries as requested by the funder, and documents files as needed.
    • Enter all services rendered into Evolv (Electronic Health Record Data System)
    • Assist with data collection to ensure that program outcomes are being met.
    • Must be prepared to work a flexible schedule: one evening weekly and one weekend per month or any variation as needed to meet program and participant’s needs.


    Education - Associate's Degree and/or 60 college credits required; Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school in social work or a related field Preferred.



    Work Experience Requirement -  Experience working successfully with at risk families in an accredited social service agency.  Knowledge of child development, early childhood education, parenting curriculums, standards of prevention and protective factors a plus.  Should have adequate knowledge on working with diverse populations and have a working knowledge of Mercer County resources and community agencies. 


    Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and spoken required)
