  • Overview

    Our mission of saving children’s lives and building health families is at the core of all of our programs.  This position within the Children’s Home Society is providing counseling to families involved with DCP&P.  This position provides an array of clinical experience to grow your career.  Candidates are supported within the program team, through clinical supervision, and throughout the agency.  CHS is dedicated to supporting our team in enhancing skills to effectively meet the needs of our families.

    The Social Worker II will carry a caseload of approximately eight families.


    Work Location: 635 South Clinton Avenue, Trenton, New Jersey


    Schedule:  35 Hours Per Week

    Flexible and varied work schedule required


    Bilingual English/Spanish and Training in Trauma Informed/Evidence Based treatment modalities preferred but not required.




    • Provide weekly individual and/or couples' counseliing to parents whose children are in foster care.
    • Counseling and parenting groups are geared towards identifying and resolving the issues that led to the child’s placement.
    • Provide weekly therapeutic visits for parents and children.
    • Prepare and facilitate weekly parenting group.
    • Meet with DCP&P bimonthly for case conferences.
    • Participate in necessary meetings (FTM, ARC, litigation, regional reviews).
    • Prepare quarterly summaries, and assessments.
    • Make referrals to appropriate agencies for resources and supportive services
    • Monitor parents’ progress with services and overall stability in order to assist DCP&P in supporting a permanent plan for the child.



    Education Requirements:

    Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field of Study

    Licensed Clinician - LSW or LAC – LCSW/LPC preferred


    Work Experience Requirement:


    2 years experience within social work/psychology/counseling required.


    Other Skills and Abilities:

    All Social Workers in this category must have the ability to use their training and experience constructively in social work practice (diagnostic and treatment planning skills must be demonstrated), be willing to conduct him/herself according to the ethics of the profession, be interested in increased skills and knowledge, be able to record, organize and execute the duties assigned, and be able to work cooperatively with other members of the staff, other agencies, foster and adoptive parents and the community.
