    Position/Classification:            Part-Time Adoption Expediter

    Schedule:                                    As Needed Based Upon Assignment Requirements

                                                          Expected Hours: Two Days per Week (14 Hours)

    Class:                                            Para-Professional/Social Service Specialist II

    Program:                                     DCP&P Adoption Expediter Contract

    Location:                                     DCP&P Office, 3150 Route 9 South, Rio Grande, New Jersey

                                                          Cape May County

    Education Requirements:        Bachelor’s Degree required; Preferably in Social Services

    Salary Range:                             $25.00 per hour                




    Primary job responsibilities:

    • Complete child summaries, as assigned
    • Complete Part A
    • Complete or facilitate the completion of the Family Medical Document
    • Facilitate the receipt, in the DCP&P office, of various necessary documents, which include but are not limited to the Family Medical, medical and dental records from the resource parent and /or health practitioner, and school documents
    • Complete the “Consent of Guardian/Custodian” documents. This document must be accurate (date verification, legal name verification, spelling) and contain no corrections
    • Complete Court Reports
    • Draft cover letters to attorneys
    • In cases in which the consent has been signed and sent to the attorney, and where there is a delay in moving forward to the finalization hearing, the Adoption Expediter may assist in accelerating the process by contacting the attorneys, the Surrogate Court, and/or the resource parents (depending on where the delay is) to expedite the adoption finalization
    • Double check NJS for information
    • Troubleshoot any gaps in documentation for consent package with adoption staff
    • Obtain needed home study information from resource unit





    Educational Requirement:

    Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Social Services


    Work Experience Requirement:

    Five (5) years experience working in a state or adoption agency with extensive familiarity with laws, regulations, and practices governing children being adopted in the New Jersey child welfare system.  Qualified candidates must have DCP&P Part-A experience.
