Safely operate a school bus or alternate vehicle to transport children to and from their homes and the Head Start Centers over an assigned route according to a time schedule, including students with special needs.   The Bus Driver is often the first and the last person that both a parent and a child see each program day.

Signing Bonus: $2,000.00

Hourly Rate:  $25.57

30 Hours Per Week

07:30AM – 9:30AM  and 02:30PM – 05:30PM

Schedule: Now through end of June 2023 School Year  and returning for

               2023/2024 School Year (September through June - 43 Weeks)

• Operates the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner;
• Safely runs a fixed route;
• Administers basic first aid in case of an injury;
• Handles emergency situations, including vehicle evacuation procedures;
• Operates special equipment such as a wheelchair lift; assistance devices or special occupant restraints;
• Conducts routine maintenance and safety checks of the vehicle;
• Bus Drivers must maintain accurate records regarding their vehicle and children who are being transported. The record-keeping includes:

1. Accident reports
2. Pre and post-trip inspections for the operation of the vehicle
3. Regular ongoing maintenance records
4. Contact information for release of a child to a parent or guardian
5. Establish written fixed bus routes and if necessary, alternate routes

• May escort children to their classroom and convey any messages from parents to the teacher, as well as any incidents on the bus.

Education Requirement:   High School Diploma or GED

License Required:              

Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class B with an “S” and “P” endorsement

Experience Requirements: 

Minimum of one year Class B driving experience transporting children and prior experience working with preschool aged children.
