Overview

General Purpose:

The Clerk/Health Aide will perform a wide range of clerical activities for the WIC Program Administrator to assist with the efficient operation of the office.

 

Bilingual English and Spanish, Creole, French (Written and Spoken) Preferred

 

Work Location:                              

1440 Parkside Avenue Ewing, New Jersey

 

Schedule:

Flexible schedule needed and ability to work some evening and weekend hours, including Wednesday hours of 11:30AM - 7:30PM

35 Hours Per Week

 

Hourly Rate: $17.00

 

 

Responsibilities

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Nutritionists, take anthropometric measurements for hematological testing
  • Record results in ACCESS
  • Conduct residency and income screening toward eligibility determination, and orient applicants to WIC, including rights and obligations and use of WIC checks
  • Distribute information on WIC and maintain participant’s records and program binders
  • Make appointments and issue WIC checks
  • Answer phones and file
  • Appropriately greet and direct visitors and participants in the center
  • Assist with keeping office areas neat and organized
  • Assist with translations for families and staff if needed

Qualifications

Education Requirement:

  • High school diploma required

Work Experience Requirements:

 

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Experience with a high call volume, filing, and basic clerical duties

Individual must have excellent customer skills and excellent work ethics. He/ She must also be culturally sensitive to the population being served. Candidate must possess and demonstrate excellent personal and professional attributes. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Excellent computer skill, works well with others and the public. Willing to take initiative and works independently with minimal supervision.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be dependable, have good customer service and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Lab Experience and hematological testing and anthropometric measurements, especially with children preferred
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation needed as travel throughout Mercer County (including Princeton and Hightstown) is required
  • Culturally sensitive to the population served
  • Experience/education as a medical assistant or phlebotomist preferred
