Overview

The Part-Time Food Service Worker/Driver will deliver prepared food from the main kitchen to other Head Start Centers (Bellevue, East State St – CYO, Smith Santiago, St. Bartholomew, TCHS) and filling in as needed in the kitchen.

Schedule:  10 Months Per Year  - 27.5 Hours Per Week - 07:30AM - 1:00PM

Main Work Address:

1435 Liberty Street, Trenton, New Jersey

Hourly Rate: $16.58

Responsibilities

  • Ensure on-time delivery of prepared meals (breakfast, lunch and snack) to four CHSofNJ Head Start Centers throughout Trenton area.
  • Transport prepared food, milk, utensils, and napkins to classrooms for meals following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Completes a head count of children eating lunch by physically counting and verifying this number with the teaching staff.
  • Retrieves bus pans with dirty dishes from classrooms and returns to main kitchen for washing.
  • Maintains the work area, including delivery vehicles, in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
  • Informs Kitchen Supervisor of food items and supplies needed.
  • Maintains a cooperative attitude of working together with the Kitchen Supervisor and other kitchen/meal service staff.
  • Informs Kitchen Manager of food items and supplies needed.

 

Secondary Job responsibilities in the Kitchen:

  • Assist in all food production and preparation for CHS EHS/HS as directed and coordinated by the Kitchen Supervisor.
  • Wash, cut or prepare needed food items such as fresh fruits, vegetables in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications

Certification:                  Food Safety and Sanitation Certification:  Training will be provided by CHS at time of hire. 

                                       Valid Driver's License Required.

Experience Requirements: 

Minimum of one year of experience in food service is preferred.

 

Qualifications:

  • Safely operate, clean, and maintain transport vehicles and equipment used in an institutional kitchen.
  • Strict adherence to sanitation requirements in the handling, transporting and preparation of food.
  • Use approved chemicals safely and according to directions on container for cleaning food areas.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents, and other staff members.
