We are seeking an experienced and energetic Summer Camp Coordinator to lead the daily operations of our Summer Camp program. The Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for managing staff, ensuring the delivery of fun, safe, and enriching camp activities, and fostering a positive, engaging environment for campers and their families.

 

Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

 

Schedule: 

6 Weeks - Summer 2025 - 8:30AM – 4:30PM – With Flexibility for Occasional Extended Hours during Events or Field Trips

Responsibilities

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee implementation of daily summer camp programming, ensuring adherence to safety standards and best practices in youth recreation.
  • Develop and coordinate camp activities that support physical, social, creative, and emotional development.
  • Manage daily camp operations, including scheduling, staffing, supply management, and logistics.
  • Plan special events, field trips, and theme days to enhance the camper experience.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise summer camp counselors and activity leaders.
  • Provide training, guidance, and ongoing feedback to staff to ensure high-quality camper interactions.
  • Conduct regular staff check-ins to address challenges, share updates, and maintain team morale.
  • Foster positive relationships with campers and families, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding camp updates, camper progress, and any issues.
  • Organize family events or showcases to highlight camper experiences and achievements.
  • Ensure camp operations comply with state licensing, safety, and health regulations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, incident reports, and health/safety documentation.
  • Submit program reports summarizing participation, outcomes, and areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with agency leadership to align the camp program with organizational goals.
  • Participate in program evaluations and continuous improvement efforts.

Stay current with trends and innovations in summer camp programming and integrate new ideas to keep the camp experience fresh and engaging.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:  Must have an associate or baccalaureate degree in education, recreation, child development, or a related field, with coursework or experience relevant to youth programming and summer camp operations.

 

Experience Requirements:  Minimum of three years’ experience in a supervisory role, with demonstrated experience working with school-age children (5–12 years old) in a summer camp, after-school, or recreational setting.
