The positon and Program is to serve women in the City of Trenton (and surrounding Mercer County community) with primary emphasis on economically depressed neighborhoods (as needed or identified by grant sources). Employee is expected to provide services at three separate locations within the City as needed.
Schedule: 35 Hours Per Week
Salary: $22.00 per hour

Under the supervision of the maternal child health supervisor, administers pregnancy tests, facilitates prenatal support groups, and provides one-on-one support on a weekly basis, including information, referrals, linkages and enrollment in prenatal, post-post-partum support groups and Early Head Start programs and services (when eligible). Disseminates information on available public health services primarily to women of childbearing age, including pregnant Latina, Black and teenage women with emphasis on preconception, prenatal and post-partum care. Services can be offered prior to and immediately after giving birth.
As part of the Maternal Child Health Team, administer CLIA approved pregnancy tests, provides one-on-one support on a weekly basis, case management and follow-up (including information, referrals, linkages). Enrolls participants in CUNA, Body and Soul, First Steps, 4th trimester workshops or Early Head Start programs and services (when eligible).
When the staff is not providing pregnancy testing:
· Assist with health education and social support services for pre/post-natal care and interconception, and family planning services using, but not limited to, any of these curriculums: CUNA Prenatal Health Education, Comenzando Bien, BURP, Active Parenting, Becoming a Mom, and/or Body and Soul.
Educational Requirements: HS Diploma; Associates Degree preferred. Community Health Worker Certificate preferred. Experience/knowledge of women’s health and/or maternal health education preferred.
Strong desire to help improve the health outcomes of women, newborns, infants and children. Bilingual in Spanish
Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience working with diverse and at risk populations in an urban setting. Experience working in the area of women’s health is a plus. Experience and/or professional development training as a doula, home visitor or community health worker is a plus.
